 Aim / Purpose
The purpose of this course is to strengthen the human performance and non-technical skills that support safe, efficient, and resilient helideck operations. It focuses on how helideck personnel think, communicate, coordinate, make decisions, manage threats and errors, and recover from developing unsafe conditions before they lead to incidents.

The course helps helideck teams improve situation awareness, communication, teamwork, leadership, decision making, and personal readiness. It also supports a stronger safety culture by teaching personnel how to observe real behaviours, record evidence fairly, identify threats and errors, analyse trends, and turn everyday operational observations into practical safety intelligence and continuous improvement. 

Learning Objectives
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

1. Explain the role of human factors and non-technical skills in helideck safety. 
2. Apply Threat and Error Management principles to identify threats, manage errors, recognise undesired helideck states, and support recovery. 
3. Recognise the six core non-technical skill areas: situation awareness, decision making, communication, teamwork, leadership and followership, and human performance and personal readiness. 
4. Identify positive and degraded behaviours using observable behavioural markers. 
5. Conduct fair, evidence-based observations and support effective feedback, debriefing, and safety improvement. 
6. Use observation data to support targeted training, corrective action, and improved operational resilience.
